Sustainability at Sika

Sika’s strong performance is founded on the company’s entrepreneurial philosophy and the Sika Spirit, which is a synonym for the set of five values and principles that make up the DNA and culture of the company: Customer First, Courage for Innovation, Sustainability and Integrity, Empowerment and Respect, and Manage for Results.

Business Model:
Creating Value for Stakeholders

Sika creates sustainable value for its customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders. This includes governments through taxes, employees through compensation and benefits, shareholders through dividends, suppliers and service providers through raw material and service prices, and society through taxes and local community projects. Part of the value earned is retained in the company and invested in future growth.

Strategy 2028

The Sika Strategy 2028, “Beyond the Expected” is based on four pillars: Market Penetration, Innovation & Sustainability, Acquisitions, and People & Culture, including a set of both financial and non-financial targets. With these pillars, sustainability comes into further focus.

ESG Compensation Scheme

Sika's compensation scheme for Group Management and Senior Management is aligned with the non-financial pillars of Strategy 2028. The short-term incentive (STI) includes a 10% weighting for safety, with a focus on reducing Lost Time Accidents (LTAs). The long-term incentive (LTI) incorporates environmental targets, with a 20% weighting for specific goals: a 10% absolute reduction in scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions, a 5% reduction in water discharge intensity, and a 5% reduction in waste disposal intensity.

SBTi Validation of Sika’s Net Zero Targets

Sika’s near and long-term emissions reduction targets, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050, have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in May 2024. This important achievement underscores Sika’s commitment to sustainability and its proactive role in decarbonizing the construction and automotive industries.
